My name is Ingrid Nuys Arp and I live with my husband and 3 daughters on a farm in the green heart. The farm, a national monument from 1859 was quite dated. Despite that, the charm of the old farm with all its rustic elements was clearly visible and I immediately saw that we could make something beautiful out of it.
It has always been my dream to live on a farm, surrounded by greenery, animals, freedom and peace. So when we got this opportunity I was over the moon.
Because there was so much to do, my head was full of ideas. I can use all my creativity here. There's nothing I like more than decorating a space and making it cosy.
I love natural and pure materials such as wood, linen and chalk paint combined with unique items from Italy, because that's where my heart is too. When I go on vacation, I always try to take something back with me from there.
I like quiet basics so you can add different subtle colors depending on the season. So I like to change pillows, flowers, candles and some accessories, so you can put down a different atmosphere every season, which gives a different feeling, without having to change the whole living space.
We renovated the bedroom in 2019 when 1 side of the thatched roof needed to be replaced. We then pulled part of the barn into our bedroom and had a large dormer window put in. The result is a very spacious, cozy bedroom because of the old wooden beams.
